What is Measure I?

Measure I is a second parcel tax of $300…in addition to the first parcel tax of $500…in addition to 25% of your property taxes…all going to the lawyers of the Broadmoor Police Department.

TLDR

Broadmoor PD has three sources of revenue:

  • Property tax
  • Supplemental parcel tax
  • Excess Education Revenue Augmentation Fund (ERAF)

Broadmoor PD owes a lot of money because they didn’t contribute to pension funds, settled lawsuits against them, and run annual deficits. They only have two ways to get it – property tax and a supplemental parcel tax.

We already pay property tax, but Broadmoor PD needs more money. Now what?

We pay a supplemental parcel tax of $500 a year. This tax cannot be increased more than 5% a year, but Broadmoor PD needs more money. Now what?

Broadmoor PD’s solution is a second property tax of $300!

What are they going to do when the ERAF money stops?

A supervisor has called the Broadmoor PD’s problems “self-inflicted”. The Broadmoor PD needs to fix their mess themselves, not on the backs of Broadmoor citizens.
